VIDEO: Pups Green, Red & Pink Outside Exploring Outside and how to navigate a ramp and stairs - this was built just for rescue dogs to learn how to use stairs and a ramp RESCUE STORYRescue Dog Village has three puppies that were born on February 15 and their names are Green collar (Mr. Green Jeans), Male, weights 24 lbs.; Red Collar (Red Rooster), Male, weighs 22 lbs., and Pink Collar (Pink Princess), female, weighs 20 lbs. They are purebred flat coat, retrievers, Mom’s name is Mazie; Dad’s name is Gizmo and Green, Red & Pink will be available for adoption in June 2024. They are Flat coat retrievers and Comfort Dogs The pups Grandma’s, named Shelly (photo on the right sidebar on our website: www.rescuedogvillage.com), her rescue story is one that should be a movie—she was dumped at 9:00 at night on a dark road in heavy rain in Louisiana and she was pregnant. She hand nine puppies; two of those puppies, a female, Mazie and a male, Gizmo were adopted to a home in Connecticut. Last summer RDVG rescued four heartworm positive dogs, Darby, Marsha, Mona & Grandma Shelly. Their vet bill exceeded what we could usually cover. We have three dogs that are not adopted and they were posted on January 4, 2024 and have had no interest or applications on Rocco, Sweetie & Mystic—their adoption would have paid the vet expenses. Consequently, we are unable to pay our vet bill. This is why this adoption is so important, we call it:“Rescue Dogs Are Rescuing The Rescue” Mazie & father Gizmo gave birth to Green, Red & Pink. Since their birth in February, Mazie, Gizmo and the three puppies are have had all their vaccinations—the three puppies are available for adoption in June. The home they are in have six other dogs and the pups are well socialized on a daily basis. The pups are in three pen sections in the home--one for the each of the three puppies. They each have their own space, water and alfalfa pellet dog litter box. The pups can now play outside and love playing ball with Gizmo and Mazie. They are trained to use the alfalfa pellet litter box. PERSONALITYGreen collar is a male and was the first born, he is bigger than the other two. He is very loving and a laid-back big boy; each day before Kris, his foster, puts the pups down for a nap, he is the first to snuggle right up to her and put his right paw on her leg. Kris tells us that he can be independent and can take the role of an alpha when the other two pups need him to slow their play time down. At night, Kris always takes a moment to talk to him and he rolls over for a belly run. He loves his siblings and will snuggle with his brother Red between the pen sections, comes when he is called, and he knows how to sit for food. He is very smart, loving and social with people and dogs, but Kris does think he definitely loves his people the most. The coat on a Flat Coat is silky like velvet. A dog’s coat is an indication of their health. Plus, there’s nothing better than petting dogs with silky coats!. The silkiness of a dog’s coat is for more than just human enjoyment, it can also be a fascinating way to picture their history. It’s a great tool to keep them warm through the winter, and us too. Leash TrainingThe message to Green is: when you’re down, I am down; when you’re up, I am up. Kris thought that she would try to have mom Mazie help him with leash walking and Mazie walked on the leash with him – progress is slow and he is still young but Kris always stops the exercise on a good note; when he does get up for a second and walks a few steps with mom and her, that is when she stops so that Green leaves with a positive feeling. He would do best in a fenced in yard and work on the leash slowly. Kris also introduced a doll baby in a carrier and a doll that is about the size of a child at age two—he was curious and gentle and had no problem. The coat on a Flat Coat is silky like velvet. COMFORT DOG Here is a link to tell you more about Comfort Dogs:What Is a Comfort Dog? Your Guide (usserviceanimals.org) Flat Coat Retrievers are comfort dogs. A comfort dog is a type of therapy dog that provides comfort to individuals who have experienced a traumatic or tragic event. They are generally categorized as support animals and thus have different legal protections. Comfort dogs interact with people in a medical setting such as a hospital, rehabilitation center, school, or nursing home. They are also known as crisis response dogs. Comfort dogs are specially trained to provide comforting companionship and an emotional release for victims of a crisis or disaster. ABOUT THE BREED:The Flat-Coated Retriever: Flat-Coated Retrievers retain their youthful, good-humored outlook into old age. They are friendly, good-natured, playful, and energetic breed. They love people, and will usually greet anybody they meet with a wagging tail, and a readiness to play. Flat-Coated Retrievers are not couch potatoes, they love personal attention and companionship! They thrive on exercise, including swimming and fetching. They are highly intelligent and very easy to train. This is due, in part, to their eagerness to please owners. As a result of their loyal and affectionate nature, they are also known to form strong bonds with their family, making them a loving and devoted companion. Flat-Coated Retrievers are generally polite and get along well with other animals and are close relatives of Golden Retrievers. They are happy-go-lucky at all times, and love people. Flat-Coated Retrievers have a never ending lust for fun, and food. They love people, and will always know how to put a smile on your face. Flat-Coated Retrievers have the stamina of a marathon runner, and then some. They need exercise, every day. These dogs will retrieve just about anything you can throw like daily throwing a ball and just about anything that involves burning off energy. With all that energy, a Flat-Coated Retriever fits best in a home where there’s easy access to a big yard or play space. They can be a little overzealous for toddlers, but are otherwise great with children. Flat-Coated Retrievers can get along just fine with your other pets, especially if they are raised with them around.
